The 2019 FRC game, Destination: Deep Space, was space-themed, being played by two alliances of three teams each. Each alliance had two Rockets, a Cargo Ship, and a three-tiered Habitat platform to start on. The objective of the game: fill the Cargo Ships, prepare the Rockets for launch, and finish the match on the Habitat.

The game began with a temporary Sand-Storm, where the Drive Team could not see the field and was forced to use on-robot cameras. To earn points, teams place large disks, known as Hatch Panels, over multi-level openings on the Rockets and Cargo Ships to seal them. Once sealed, large rubber balls called Cargo could be placed. At the end of the match, robots could climb their alliance’s Habitat, earning more points the higher they climb.
